  1. 1. Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 160 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2. Take a baking sheet and grease it thinly with butter so nothing sticks.
  3. 3. Beat the egg whites in a bowl with a mixer until they become stiff.
  4. 4. Slowly add salt, sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest to the egg whites.
  5. 5. Mix everything further until the egg white foam is very stiff and smooth.
  6. 6. Crush the marzipan mass as finely as possible.
  7. 7. Mix the crushed marzipan with the ground walnuts.
  8. 8. Gently fold the marzipan-nut mixture under the egg white foam without stirring too vigorously.
  9. 9. Take two teaspoons and moisten them slightly with water.
  10. 10. Scoop small portions of the dough using the wet spoons.
  11. 11. Place the dough portions on the prepared sheet with some distance between them.
  12. 12. Press half a walnut slightly into the top of each macaroon.
  13. 13. Slide the sheet into the center of the oven and bake the macaroons for about 25 minutes.
  14. 14. Take the sheet out of the oven and let the macaroons cool down completely.
