🍰 Crunchy Walnut Macaroons

Ingredients
- 100 g Marzipan base
- 2 egg whites
- 100 g ground walnuts
- 50 g sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- Lemon (juice)
- 2 tsp grated lemon zest
- Butter (for the baking sheet)
- 35 walnut kernel halves (for decorating)
Instructions
- 1. Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 160 degrees Celsius.
- 2. Take a baking sheet and grease it thinly with butter so nothing sticks.
- 3. Beat the egg whites in a bowl with a mixer until they become stiff.
- 4. Slowly add salt, sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest to the egg whites.
- 5. Mix everything further until the egg white foam is very stiff and smooth.
- 6. Crush the marzipan mass as finely as possible.
- 7. Mix the crushed marzipan with the ground walnuts.
- 8. Gently fold the marzipan-nut mixture under the egg white foam without stirring too vigorously.
- 9. Take two teaspoons and moisten them slightly with water.
- 10. Scoop small portions of the dough using the wet spoons.
- 11. Place the dough portions on the prepared sheet with some distance between them.
- 12. Press half a walnut slightly into the top of each macaroon.
- 13. Slide the sheet into the center of the oven and bake the macaroons for about 25 minutes.
- 14. Take the sheet out of the oven and let the macaroons cool down completely.
