🍽️ Heart-shaped Waffles with Quark and Jam Filling

Ingredients
- 50 g Butter
- 2 Eggs (size M)
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 250 ml milk
- 125 ml buttermilk
- 200 g flour
- baking powder
- some fat (for the waffle iron)
- 50 g sugar
- 250 g low-fat quark
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 4 tbsp red jam (e.g. cherry, strawberry or raspberry jam)
Instructions
- 1. Melt the butter in a pot and let it cool down slightly.
- 2. Separate the eggs by carefully dividing the yolks from the whites.
- 3. Whip the egg whites with a mixer until they form stiff peaks.
- 4. Mix the egg yolks with the sugar and vanilla sugar in a bowl.
- 5. Stir in the milk and buttermilk into the yolk mixture.
- 6. Combine the flour with the baking powder and sift the mixture over the liquid.
- 7. Stir the batter until smooth and no flour lumps remain.
- 8. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the batter.
- 9. Preheat your heart-shaped waffle iron and grease it lightly.
- 10. Pour the batter into the waffle iron and bake the waffles until crispy and golden brown.
- 11. Remove the waffles and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
- 12. Carefully break each cooled heart waffle in half.
- 13. Mix the quark (curd cheese) with vanilla sugar and jam to create a creamy filling.
- 14. Spread the quark mixture onto one waffle half and cover it with the other half.
