  3. 3. Spread each bread circle thinly with butter.

  5. 5. Cut the herring into pieces 2 to 3 centimeters wide.
  6. 6. Slice the lemon into rounds.
  7. 7. Cut each lemon slice into four quarters.
  8. 8. Wash the dill and shake it dry.
  9. 9. Pluck the fine dill tips from the stems.
  10. 10. Cut the cheese into small pieces or thin slices.
  11. 11. Layer the buttered bread with potato slices, cheese, herring, and lemon quarters.
