🍽️ Irish Wholemeal Bread

Ingredients
- 42 g fresh yeast (1 cube)
- 800 g whole wheat flour
- 200 g whole rye flour
- 1 tbsp salt
- 3 tbsp sunflower oil
- 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
- 2 tbsp rolled oats
- flour (for working)
Instructions
- 1. Dissolve the yeast in 500 milliliters of lukewarm water.
- 2. Add flour and salt to a large mixing bowl.
- 3. Pour the yeast mixture and the oil into the bowl.
- 4. Knead everything with the dough hooks of the hand mixer until smooth.
- 5. If necessary, add a little more lukewarm water or flour to achieve the right consistency.
- 6. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 40 minutes.
- 7. Knead the dough on a floured surface to incorporate the sunflower seeds.
- 8. Shape the dough into an oblong loaf.
- 9. Place the loaf in a greased and oat-flake-dusted pan.
- 10. Brush the surface of the bread with lukewarm water.
- 11. Sprinkle the remaining oat flakes on top.
- 12. Cover the pan and let the bread rise for another 15 minutes.
- 13. Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Celsius for top and bottom heat.
- 14. Place the bread on the middle rack in the preheated oven.
- 15. Bake the bread for about 60 minutes.
- 16. Check the baking time by tapping the bottom of the bread; it should sound hollow.
- 17. Remove the bread from the oven and turn it out of the pan.
- 18. Let the bread cool completely on a wire rack.
