  1. 1. Mix ground almonds, flour, 50 g raw cane sugar, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
  2. 2. Split a vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with a knife.
  3. 3. Add the vanilla seeds and 240 g margarine to the flour mixture.
  4. 4. Work the ingredients into a crumbly dough.
  5. 5. Add about 100 ml of cold water if needed to form a firm dough.
  6. 6. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  7. 7. Bring 200 ml of water, the remaining sugar, and the scraped vanilla pod to a boil.
  8. 8. Let the mixture simmer for 4 to 5 minutes.
  9. 9. Remove the vanilla pod and take the pan off the heat.
  10. 10. Stir in the remaining margarine and let it melt.
  11. 11. Fold in nuts and coconut flakes.
  12. 12. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and roll out the dough on it.
  13. 13. Spread the nut mixture evenly over the dough.
  14. 14. Bake the nut corners in the preheated oven at 180 °C (fan 160 °C, gas mark 2–3) for 30 minutes.
  15. 15. Allow the baked dough to cool for about 30 minutes.
  16. 16. Remove the dough from the baking sheet and cut it into small pieces.
  17. 17. Melt couverture (chocolate for decoration) in a water bath.
  18. 18. Decorate the nut corners with the melted couverture.
  19. 19. Let the decorated nut corners cool again.
