  1. 1. Pour cream and milk into a pot.
  2. 2. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise.
  3. 3. Scrape out the seeds.
  4. 4. Add the seeds and the pod to the milk-cream mixture.
  5. 5. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. 6. Remove the pot from the heat and set it aside.
  7. 7. Place the egg yolks and sugar in a bowl.
  8. 8. Beat the egg yolks with sugar until frothy.
  9. 9. Continue stirring until the mixture is pale and creamy.
  10. 10. Slowly stir the hot milk into the egg yolk mixture.
  11. 11. Pour the entire mixture back into the pot.
  12. 12. Remove the vanilla pod from the liquid.
  13. 13. Place the pot over low heat.
  14. 14. Stir the cream with a wooden spoon.
  15. 15. Stop stirring when the cream begins to thicken.
  16. 16. Make sure the cream does not boil.
  17. 17. Place the bowl with the cream over a container of ice water.
  18. 18. Let the cream cool down.
  19. 19. Pour the cooled cream into the ice cream maker.
  20. 20. Set the ice cream maker and let it churn the ice cream.
  21. 21. If you do not have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow metal dish.
  22. 22. Place the dish in the freezer compartment.
  23. 23. Stir the mixture vigorously several times during the first hour.
  24. 24. This prevents the formation of large ice crystals.
  25. 25. Fill the finished ice cream into silicone muffin molds.
  26. 26. Let the ice freeze overnight in the freezer compartment.
  27. 27. Wash the strawberries the next day.
  28. 28. Pat the strawberries dry.
  29. 29. Remove the green tops.
  30. 30. Cut the strawberries into quarters.
  31. 31. Mix the strawberry pieces with sugar.
  32. 32. Decoratively distribute 8 tablespoons of chocolate sauce on the plates.
  33. 33. Carefully release the ice from the silicone molds.
  34. 34. Place the ice portions on the plates.
  35. 35. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of sauce over the ice.
  36. 36. Add 2 tablespoons of the prepared strawberries to each serving.
  37. 37. Garnish the dishes with mint.
  38. 38. Serve the ice cream immediately.
