🍽️ Ura-Maki: Rice inside, toppings outside

Ingredients
- 4 tbsp sesame seeds
- 0.25 ripe avocado
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 piece cucumber (10 cm long)
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 roasted nori sheets
- 250 g prepared sushi rice
Instructions
- 1. Toast the sesame seeds in a small pan without oil until they are golden brown.
- 2. Take the toasted sesame seeds out of the pan and place them on a plate.
- 3. Let the sesame seeds cool completely on the plate.
- 4. Rinse the cucumber under running water.
- 5. Dry the cucumber with a kitchen towel.
- 6. Cut the cucumber in half lengthwise.
- 7. Scrape the seeds out of the cucumber halves with a spoon.
- 8. Cut the deseeded cucumber halves into sticks about half a centimeter thick.
- 9. Peel the skin off the avocado quarters.
- 10. Cut the peeled avocado quarters into long strips.
- 11. Drizzle the avocado strips with lemon juice immediately to prevent them from turning brown.
- 12. Rinse the lettuce leaves under running water.
- 13. Dry the lettuce leaves with a kitchen towel.
- 14. Take a spoonful of mayonnaise from the specified amount.
- 15. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on a lettuce leaf.
- 16. Roll the coated lettuce leaf tightly into a roll.
- 17. Repeat this with the remaining lettuce leaves and mayonnaise.
- 18. Take a bamboo sushi rolling mat.
- 19. Wrap the bamboo mat tightly with cling film.
- 20. Place a nori seaweed sheet with the smooth side facing up on the wrapped mat.
- 21. Moisten your hands with a little water so the rice does not stick.
- 22. Take half of the sushi rice amount.
- 23. Spread the rice evenly over the nori sheet.
- 24. Leave a small border free on both long sides, at the top and bottom.
- 25. Carefully lift the nori sheet from the mat.
- 26. Turn the sheet over so that the rice is now facing down on the mat.
- 27. Take some of the remaining mayonnaise.
- 28. Spread the mayonnaise on the lower third of the nori sheet.
- 29. Place half of the lettuce rolls on the mayonnaise-coated area.
- 30. Place the avocado strips next to the lettuce rolls.
- 31. Place the cucumber sticks next to the avocado strips.
- 32. Lift the bottom edge of the bamboo mat.
- 33. Roll the filling and the nori sheet tightly together.
- 34. Press the roll slightly with the mat to stabilize the shape.
- 35. Take the finished roll off the mat.
- 36. Repeat the filling and rolling with the remaining ingredients for a second roll.
- 37. Take the cooled sesame seeds.
- 38. Gently press the sushi rolls into the sesame seeds so they are covered all around.
- 39. Take a sharp knife.
- 40. Cut the first roll into six equal pieces.
- 41. Cut the second roll into six equal pieces as well.
