🍽️ Leek and Ham Bake

Ingredients
- 4 stalks leek
- salt
- 200 g cooked ham (in slices)
- 100 ml whipping cream (35 % fat)
- 100 ml meat broth
- 150 g crème fraîche
- 2 eggs
- 100 g grated cheese (e. g. Gruyère)
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg
- chervil (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees with fan or gas mark 2-3).
- 2. Wash the leek thoroughly and remove the tough ends.
- 3. Cut the leek lengthwise into halves or thirds.
- 4. Boil water with salt and add the leek for 2 to 3 minutes. This is called blanching (briefly cooking in boiling water).
- 5. Drain the water and immediately rinse the leek with cold water to stop the cooking process.
- 6. Wrap 1 to 2 slices of ham around the leek pieces.
- 7. Place the wrapped leek pieces into a baking dish.
- 8. Whisk together cream, broth, crème fraîche, eggs, and grated cheese in a bowl.
- 9. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and ground nutmeg.
- 10. Pour the sauce evenly over the leek in the dish.
- 11. Bake the dish for 25 to 30 minutes in the oven until golden brown.
- 12. Serve the bake garnished with fresh chervil.
