  1. 1. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly.
  2. 2. Cut out the hard stem areas from the tomatoes in a wedge shape.
  3. 3. Slice the tomatoes into rounds about 5 millimeters thick.
  4. 4. Let the mozzarella drain well in a colander.
  5. 5. Slice the mozzarella into thin rounds.
  6. 6. Also let the olives drain well.
  7. 7. Finely chop the olives.
  8. 8. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius conventional heat (180 degrees Celsius fan or gas mark 3).
  9. 9. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  10. 10. Slice the ciabatta rolls horizontally.
  11. 11. Arrange the roll halves on the prepared baking tray.
  12. 12. Sprinkle the rolls with the chopped olives.
  13. 13. Top the rolls with the tomato slices.
  14. 14. Season the topped rolls with black pepper.
  15. 15. Distribute the mozzarella slices evenly over the tomatoes.
  16. 16. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
  17. 17. Wash the arugula thoroughly while the rolls are baking.
  18. 18. Dry the arugula in a salad spinner or with a kitchen towel.
  19. 19. Remove any thick stems or wilted leaves from the arugula.
  20. 20. Cut the ham into thin strips.
  21. 21. Take the baked rolls out of the oven.
  22. 22. Decoratively arrange the arugula and ham strips on the hot rolls.
  23. 23. Serve the sandwiches immediately while warm.
