  1. 1. Wash the bell pepper thoroughly and remove the inside. Cut the vegetable into very small cubes.
  2. 2. Peel the carrot and chop it finely as well.
  3. 3. Peel the garlic clove and crush it very finely or press it.
  4. 4. Heat the olive oil in a small pot.
  5. 5. Add the carrots and the bell pepper to the pot.
  6. 6. Sauté the vegetables over medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes until they are soft.
  7. 7. Add the garlic, Italian herbs, and salt.
  8. 8. Let the mixture simmer over low heat for another 1 to 2 minutes.
  9. 9. Wash the basil leaves and shake them dry.
  10. 10. Drain the beans in a sieve.
  11. 11. Add the drained beans and the chunky tomatoes to the vegetable mixture in the pot.
  12. 12. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  13. 13. Remove the pot from the heat.
  14. 14. Stir in the basil leaves and the nutritional yeast flakes.
  15. 15. Let the sauce cool down for about 5 minutes.
  16. 16. Puree the sauce until smooth using a blender or food processor.
  17. 17. Serve the tomato sauce on its own or mix it with cooked pasta.
