🍽️ Quick homemade tomato sauce

Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 800 g peeled tomatoes (can)
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- chili flakes
- basil (for garnishing)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onion and the garlic clove.
- 2. Dice both into very small cubes.
- 3. Heat olive oil in a pan.
- 4. Add the onions and garlic to the hot oil.
- 5. Sauté the vegetables briefly until fragrant.
- 6. Stir in the tomato paste and sauté it briefly.
- 7. Add the tomatoes.
- 8. Mix everything well and crush the tomatoes slightly.
- 9. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
- 10. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes.
- 11. Stir occasionally.
- 12. Add the herbs and chili.
- 13. Simmer the sauce for another 5 to 10 minutes.
- 14. Check if the sauce has reached the desired thickness.
- 15. Taste the sauce one last time to adjust seasoning.
- 16. Serve the sauce garnished with fresh basil if desired.
