  4. 4. Arrange the tomato slices on a serving platter.

  6. 6. Dice the onion into very small cubes.
  7. 7. Sprinkle the onion cubes evenly over the tomatoes.
  8. 8. Wash the basil leaves.
  9. 9. Gently dry the basil leaves with a kitchen towel.
  10. 10. Chop the basil finely.
  11. 11. Place the chopped basil leaves, balsamic vinegar, pepper, and salt into a mortar.
  12. 12. Pound the ingredients in the mortar lightly until the mixture becomes slightly creamy.
  13. 13. Stir in the oil gradually while continuing to mix.
  14. 14. Drizzle the finished dressing evenly over the tomatoes.
  15. 15. Garnish the salad with fresh basil leaves.
