  8. 8. Finely chop the shallot.
  9. 9. Heat butter in a pot.
  10. 10. Sauté the shallot in the hot butter until translucent.
  11. 11. Add the carrots to the shallot.
  12. 12. Add the tomato cubes.
  13. 13. Add a bay leaf to the pot.
  14. 14. Let the vegetables sweat for a short time.
  15. 15. Pour vegetable broth into the pot.
  16. 16. Cover the pot.
  17. 17. Simmer the soup for about 30 minutes.
