🍽️ Refreshing Tomato Granita

Ingredients
- 1 red chili pepper
- 80 g brown sugar
- 2 cardamom pods
- 800 g tomatoes
- 1 lemon (juice)
- 40 ml orange liqueur
Instructions
- 1. Wash the chili pepper thoroughly.
- 2. Poke the chili pepper several times all around with a fork.
- 3. Mix the sugar with 100 milliliters of water in a pot.
- 4. Bring the sugar-water mixture to a boil.
- 5. Let the mixture simmer for about 1 minute.
- 6. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 7. Add the prepared chili pepper and the cardamom seeds to the syrup.
- 8. Let the syrup cool down completely.
- 9. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes.
- 10. Remove the tomatoes from the hot water immediately and let them cool.
- 11. Peel the skin off the tomatoes.
- 12. Cut the tomatoes into quarters.
- 13. Remove the seeds from the tomato pieces.
- 14. Puree the tomatoes in a blender until smooth.
- 15. Pour the cooled syrup over the tomato puree.
- 16. Optionally remove the chili pepper and cardamom seeds from the syrup.
- 17. Add the lemon juice and the liqueur to the tomato mixture.
- 18. Mix everything well together.
- 19. Pour the mixture into a shallow metal dish.
- 20. Place the dish in the freezer.
- 21. Let the mixture freeze for at least 4 hours.
- 22. Take the dish out of the freezer every 30 minutes.
- 23. Stir the mixture vigorously with a fork.
- 24. Repeat the stirring regularly until the granita is ready.
- 25. Take the granita out of the freezer about 10 minutes before serving.
- 26. Stir the granita well once more.
- 27. Optionally remove the chili pepper and cardamom seeds.
- 28. Fill the granita into chilled glasses.
