  1. 1. Peel the onion and chop it very finely.
  2. 2. Peel the garlic clove and crush it.
  3. 3. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly.
  4. 4. Remove the hard stem ends from the tomatoes.
  5. 5. Cut the tomatoes into coarse cubes.
  6. 6. Wash the basil leaves.
  7. 7. Shake the basil dry.
  8. 8. Cut the basil into thin strips.
  9. 9. Heat the oil in a pan.
  10. 10. Sauté the onions and garlic in it until translucent.
  11. 11. Stir the tomato paste into the onions.
  12. 12. Fry the tomato paste briefly.
  13. 13. Add the tomato cubes to the pan.
  14. 14. Cover the pan with a lid.
  15. 15. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes over low heat.
  16. 16. Sprinkle the flour over the simmering sauce.
  17. 17. Stir the flour in well.
  18. 18. Let the sauce cook for another 5 minutes while stirring.
  19. 19. Puree the sauce with a hand blender.
  20. 20. Strain the sauce through a fine sieve.
  21. 21. Thin the sauce with vegetable broth as needed.
  22. 22. Heat the sauce again.
  23. 23. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
  24. 24. Whip the cream until semi-stiff.
  25. 25. Gently fold the whipped cream into the sauce.
  26. 26. Add the cut basil to the sauce.
  27. 27. Serve the sauce with meat, fish, or vegetables.
