Ingredients
- 1 kg egg tomatoes
- 1 bunch lemon thyme
- sea salt
- pepper
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the tomatoes under running water.
- 2. Dry the tomatoes thoroughly with a kitchen towel.
- 3. Slice the tomatoes lengthwise into even slices.
- 4. Line two baking sheets with baking paper.
- 5. Arrange the tomato slices on the prepared sheets.
- 6. Season the tomatoes lightly with salt and black pepper.
- 7. Sprinkle fresh lemon thyme leaves over the tomatoes.
- 8. Preheat the oven to a temperature between 80 and 100 degrees Celsius.
- 9. Place the sheets in the preheated oven.
- 10. Open the oven door slightly to let moisture escape.
- 11. Dry the tomatoes for about 6 hours.
- 12. Turn the tomato slices once or twice during the drying process.
- 13. Remove the sheets from the oven when the tomatoes are done.
- 14. Let the dried tomatoes cool down completely.
- 15. Store the tomatoes in an airtight container.
- 16. Store the container in a cool and dry place.
- 17. Alternatively, you can preserve the tomatoes by storing them in oil.
