  1. 1. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. 2. Slice the tomatoes crosswise into even slices.
  3. 3. Drain the mozzarella in a colander.
  4. 4. Slice the mozzarella into rounds as well.
  5. 5. Arrange the tomato slices on your plates.
  6. 6. Season the tomatoes with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper.
  7. 7. Place the mozzarella slices on top of the seasoned tomatoes.
  8. 8. Sprinkle a little more pepper over the mozzarella.
  9. 9. Let the dried tomatoes drain slightly.
  10. 10. Finely chop the dried tomatoes.
  11. 11. Rinse the capers under cold running water.
  12. 12. Pat the capers dry thoroughly.
  13. 13. Distribute the capers and chopped dried tomatoes over the mozzarella.
  14. 14. Scatter the fresh basil leaves over the dish.
  15. 15. Drizzle each portion with one to two tablespoons of olive oil.
  16. 16. Serve the dish immediately alongside grissini (Italian breadsticks).
