  1. 1. Peel the onion and the garlic.
  2. 2. Finely chop the onion and the garlic.
  3. 3. Heat olive oil in a pot.
  4. 4. Sauté the onions and garlic in the hot oil until they become translucent.
  5. 5. Add the tomatoes and spices to the pot.
  6. 6. Let the soup simmer for 30 minutes.
  7. 7. Add a little water if the soup becomes too thick.
  8. 8. Remove the bay leaves from the soup.
  9. 9. Puree the soup until smooth using a hand blender.
  10. 10. Add the corn to the soup.
  11. 11. Immediately portion the soup into small bowls.
  12. 12. Garnish the soup with fresh thyme.
  13. 13. Serve the soup warm.
