Ingredients
- 400 g tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 chili pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 1 tsp oregano (dried)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp sour cream (or crème fraîche)
- Tortilla chips (to taste)
Instructions
- 1. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes.
- 2. Peel the skin off the tomatoes.
- 3. Cut the peeled tomatoes into small cubes.
- 4. Peel the onion.
- 5. Finely chop the onion.
- 6. Wash the chili pepper.
- 7. Remove the seeds from the chili.
- 8. Cut the chili into small cubes.
- 9. Heat the oil in a pan.
- 10. Sauté the onions in the oil until they are translucent.
- 11. Add the tomato cubes to the pan.
- 12. Stir in the tomato paste.
- 13. Add the chopped chili.
- 14. Season the mixture with the specified spices.
- 15. Add the lemon juice.
- 16. Let the sauce simmer for five minutes.
- 17. Strain the hot sauce through a fine sieve.
- 18. Finally, adjust the seasoning of the cooled sauce.
- 19. Stir the sour cream until creamy.
- 20. Decoratively place the sour cream on top of the tomato sauce.
- 21. Serve the tortilla chips separately.
