  1. 1. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2. Remove the hard stem ends from the tomatoes.
  3. 3. Slice, cube, or wedge the tomatoes however you prefer.
  4. 4. Arrange the tomato pieces on your serving plates.
  5. 5. Take the mozzarella out of the package and let it drain well.
  6. 6. Crumble the mozzarella into small, irregular pieces using your hands.
  7. 7. Distribute the mozzarella pieces evenly over the tomatoes.
  8. 8. Pluck the fresh basil leaves from the stems.
  9. 9. Tear the basil leaves into rough, smaller pieces.
  10. 10. Sprinkle the chopped basil leaves over the entire salad.
  11. 11. Pour the balsamic vinegar into a small bowl.
  12. 12. Add the oil to the vinegar.
  13. 13. Sprinkle the dried oregano over the liquid.
  14. 14. Add a pinch of salt.
  15. 15. Add a pinch of chili flakes or ground chili.
  16. 16. Add a small spoonful of sugar.
  17. 17. Whisk all the dressing ingredients vigorously with a fork or spoon.
  18. 18. Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  19. 19. Drizzle the finished dressing evenly over the salad.
  20. 20. Serve the salad immediately while fresh.
