🍽️ Tofu in Tomato Pepper Sauce

Ingredients
- 500 g tofu
- 7 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp liquid honey
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 0.25 tsp cumin
- bell peppers
- 1 red chili pepper
- 8 tomatoes
- 2 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- salt
- pepper from the mill
Instructions
- 1. Cut the tofu into about two large cubes.
- 2. Place the tofu cubes into a bowl.
- 3. Mix soy sauce, vinegar, honey, ginger, and cumin in a small bowl.
- 4. Pour the marinade evenly over the tofu.
- 5. Thoroughly wash the bell peppers.
- 6. Cut the bell peppers in half lengthwise.
- 7. Remove the seeds and white inner membranes from the bell peppers.
- 8. Cut half of the bell peppers crosswise into thin strips.
- 9. Set the pepper strips aside.
- 10. Dice the remaining part of the bell peppers.
- 11. Wash the chili pepper.
- 12. Slit the chili pepper lengthwise.
- 13. Remove the seeds from the chili pepper.
- 14. Finely dice the chili pepper.
- 15. Wash the tomatoes.
- 16. Cut the tomatoes into quarters.
- 17. Remove the seeds from the tomato quarters.
- 18. Dice the deseeded tomatoes into small pieces.
- 19. Peel the onions.
- 20. Peel the garlic.
- 21. Finely chop the onions and garlic.
- 22. Heat two tablespoons of olive oil in a pot.
- 23. Sauté the onions and garlic in the oil until translucent.
- 24. Add the diced bell pepper, tomatoes, and chili to the pot.
- 25. Pour in one cup of water.
- 26. Place a lid on the pot.
- 27. Simmer the mixture on low heat for ten minutes until soft.
- 28. Puree the sauce with a hand blender.
- 29. Strain the sauce through a fine sieve.
- 30. Drain the tofu over a sieve.
- 31. Catch the drained marinade in a bowl.
- 32. Heat some olive oil in a frying pan.
- 33. Fry the tofu cubes and pepper strips in the pan.
- 34. Fry the ingredients for about five minutes.
- 35. Pour the prepared pepper sauce over the ingredients in the pan.
- 36. Also pour the collected tofu marinade into the pan.
- 37. Place a lid on the frying pan.
- 38. Let the sauce simmer for another five minutes.
- 39. Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste.
- 40. Warm up the serving plates.
- 41. Plate the tofu on the warmed plates.
- 42. Sprinkle the dish with fresh parsley.
- 43. Serve the dish immediately.
