🍽️ Tuna steak with pepper crust and fresh melon salsa

Ingredients
- 600 g tuna fillet (whole piece)
- 5 tbsp lime juice
- 4 tbsp light soy sauce
- 0.5 honeydew melon (e.g. cantaloupe)
- 1 red chili pepper
- 1 white onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 piece ginger (walnut-sized)
- 3 sprigs basil
- 4 tbsp light sesame oil
- 5 tbsp peppercorns (black and white mixed)
- lime wedges (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the tuna steak under cold water.
- 2. Pat the fish completely dry with a kitchen towel.
- 3. Pour two tablespoons of lime juice over the fish.
- 4. Add two tablespoons of soy sauce.
- 5. Let the fish marinate for a few minutes.
- 6. Peel the melon and remove the seeds.
- 7. Cut the melon into very small cubes.
- 8. Halve the chili pepper lengthwise.
- 9. Remove the seeds from the chili pepper.
- 10. Rinse the chili pepper.
- 11. Cut the chili pepper into thin strips.
- 12. Peel the onion.
- 13. Peel the garlic.
- 14. Peel the ginger.
- 15. Finely chop the onion, garlic, and ginger.
- 16. Set aside some chili strips for decoration.
- 17. Place the diced melon in a bowl.
- 18. Add the remaining chili strips to the melon.
- 19. Add the chopped onion.
- 20. Add the chopped garlic.
- 21. Add the chopped ginger.
- 22. Mix all salsa ingredients in the bowl.
- 23. Wash the basil.
- 24. Shake the basil dry.
- 25. Save about eight basil leaves for decoration.
- 26. Finely chop the remaining basil.
- 27. Add one tablespoon of sesame oil to the melon mixture.
- 28. Stir the chopped basil into the melon mixture.
- 29. Add about three tablespoons of lime juice to the salsa.
- 30. Add two tablespoons of soy sauce to the salsa.
- 31. Season the melon salsa with lime juice and soy sauce.
- 32. Grind the peppercorns coarsely in an electric chopper.
- 33. Pour the ground pepper onto a plate.
- 34. Turn the marinated fish steak all around in the pepper.
- 35. Press the pepper firmly onto the fish.
- 36. Heat three tablespoons of sesame oil in a wide pan.
- 37. Fry the fish steak over high heat.
- 38. Fry the fish for two to three minutes on all sides.
- 39. Remove the fish steak from the pan.
- 40. Spread some melon salsa onto the plates.
- 41. Slice the fish steak.
- 42. Place the fish slices on the salsa.
- 43. Garnish the dish with lime wedges.
- 44. Garnish the dish with the remaining chili strips.
- 45. Garnish the dish with the saved basil leaves.
