  2. 2. Pit the cherries and place them in a pot along with the sugar, the seeds from one vanilla pod, the liqueur, and the lemon juice.
  3. 3. Lightly mash the fruit with a potato masher to release the juices.
  4. 4. Let the mixture sit for about one hour to allow the flavors to blend well.
  5. 5. Bring the jam mixture to a boil in the pot.
  6. 6. Let the jam bubble and cook for four minutes.
  7. 7. Fill the hot jam into well-rinsed, clean jars.
  8. 8. Seal the jars tightly with lids.
  9. 9. Turn the sealed jars upside down for ten minutes.
  10. 10. Turn the jars back upright and let them cool down completely.
  11. 11. Store the finished jam in a cool and dark place.
