🍰 Oriental-style Sweet Millet

Ingredients
- 100 g Millet
- 250 ml Milk (1.5% fat)
- Salt
- 0.25 tsp Vanilla powder
- 0.25 tsp Cardamom powder
- 30 g dried Fig (2 dried Figs)
- 30 g dried Cranberries (2 tbsp)
- 3 tbsp Almond slivers
- 2 tsp Coconut blossom sugar
- 1 pinch Cinnamon
Instructions
- 1. Place the millet into a fine-mesh sieve.
- 2. Rinse the millet thoroughly with hot water.
- 3. Continue rinsing until the running water is clear.
- 4. Let the millet drain well in the sieve.
- 5. Add the milk, a pinch of salt, vanilla, and cardamom to a pot.
- 6. Heat the mixture until it comes to a boil.
- 7. Add the drained millet to the boiling milk.
- 8. Bring the mixture back to a boil briefly.
- 9. Reduce the heat to low.
- 10. Cover the pot with a lid.
- 11. Simmer the millet for five minutes.
- 12. Stir the millet occasionally during this time.
- 13. Dice the figs into small cubes.
- 14. Add the diced figs and the cranberries to the millet.
- 15. Cover the pot again.
- 16. Cook the ingredients for another five minutes.
- 17. Heat a frying pan over medium heat.
- 18. Place the slivered almonds into the dry pan.
- 19. Toast the almonds until they are golden brown.
- 20. Remove the toasted almonds from the pan.
- 21. Transfer the almonds to a plate.
- 22. Let the almonds cool down slightly.
- 23. Mix the coconut blossom sugar with cinnamon.
- 24. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the finished millet.
- 25. Distribute the cooled almonds on top.
- 26. Serve the dish immediately.
