🍽️ Sweet Semolina Dumplings with Plum Compote

Ingredients
- 0.5 l milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 100 g butter
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 150 g semolina
- 2 eggs
- 50 g butter
- 2 tbsp ground almond kernels
- 2 tbsp ground poppy seeds
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 0.5 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- 1. Heat the milk in a pot together with salt, butter, and sugar until the mixture boils.
- 2. Add the semolina and stir constantly until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the bottom of the pot.
- 3. Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool down briefly.
- 4. Stir the first egg into the warm semolina mixture.
- 5. Thoroughly mix the second egg into the mixture.
- 6. Let the semolina mixture cool down completely.
- 7. Scoop small dumplings from the cooled mixture.
- 8. Place the dumplings into a pot of boiling salted water.
- 9. Let the dumplings cook through for about 8 minutes.
- 10. Melt the butter in a small pot.
- 11. Toast the almonds and poppy seeds in the butter for 2 to 3 minutes.
- 12. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 13. Mix the sugar and cinnamon with the toasted mixture.
- 14. Lift the finished dumplings out of the water with a slotted spoon.
- 15. Pour the poppy seed butter over the dumplings.
- 16. Serve the dish with plum compote as desired.
