🍽️ Oven Chicken with Apple and Onion Garnish

Ingredients
- 4 broiler chickens (approx. 450 g each)
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- vegetable oil (for the baking dish)
- 1 onion
- 1 apple
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 handful lemon balm
- 30 g butter
- 1 tsp paprika powder
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Set the heating mode to top and bottom heat.
- 2. Rinse the chickens briefly and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- 3. Season the inside of the chickens with salt and pepper.
- 4. Place the chickens in a greased baking dish. Make sure the breast side is facing up.
- 5. Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes.
- 6. Wash the apple, cut it into quarters, and remove the core.
- 7. Cut the apple flesh into small cubes as well.
- 8. Break the cinnamon stick into smaller pieces.
- 9. Rinse the lemon balm, shake it dry, and strip the leaves from the stems.
- 10. Roughly chop the lemon balm leaves.
- 11. Heat the butter in a small saucepan.
- 12. Add half of the chopped lemon balm, the paprika powder, the cinnamon pieces, salt, and pepper to the butter.
- 13. Brush the chickens with this spice-butter mixture.
- 14. Sprinkle the chopped apples and onions over the chickens.
- 15. Roast the chickens in the oven for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
- 16. Take the chickens out of the oven.
- 17. Sprinkle them with the remaining fresh lemon balm.
- 18. Serve the dish immediately.
