  1. 1. Pour 700 milliliters of water into a pot and bring it to a boil.
  2. 2. Add the smoked pork slices and the bay leaves to the boiling water.
  3. 3. Let the pot simmer on low heat with the lid closed for about 30 minutes.
  4. 4. Cut the turnip in half lengthwise.
  5. 5. Peel the outer skin off the turnip halves.
  6. 6. Slice the turnip into round slices.
  7. 7. Cut the turnip slices into cubes of about 2 centimeters.
  8. 8. Peel the onions.
  9. 9. Cut the onions into wedges.
  10. 10. Remove the smoked pork from the pot using a slotted spoon.
  11. 11. Place the meat on a plate and let it cool down.
  12. 12. Add the onion wedges and the turnip cubes to the cooking liquid.
  13. 13. Bring the mixture back to a boil.
  14. 14. Cook the vegetables on medium heat with the lid closed for about 10 minutes.
  15. 15. Peel the potatoes.
  16. 16. Rinse the peeled potatoes.
  17. 17. Cut the potatoes into cubes of about 2 centimeters.
  18. 18. Add the potato cubes to the cooking turnips.
  19. 19. Let everything cook on medium heat with the lid closed for another 20 minutes.
  20. 20. Wash the parsley.
  21. 21. Shake the parsley dry.
  22. 22. Pluck the parsley leaves from the stems.
  23. 23. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
  24. 24. Cut the cooled smoked pork into cubes of about 2 centimeters.
  25. 25. Add half of the chopped parsley to the meat and vegetables.
  26. 26. Season the stew with salt and pepper.
  27. 27. Season the stew with ground cloves.
  28. 28. Sprinkle the finished turnip stew with the remaining chopped parsley.
  29. 29. Serve the stew hot.
