🍽️ Hearty Turnip Stew with Smoked Pork

Ingredients
- 400 g chicken kassler (boneless)
- 2 bay leaves
- 900 g turnip (1 turnip)
- 200 g onions (4 onions)
- 700 g mostly waxy potatoes (7 mostly waxy potatoes)
- 0.5 bunch flat-leaf parsley
- salt
- pepper
- ground cloves
Instructions
- 1. Pour 700 milliliters of water into a pot and bring it to a boil.
- 2. Add the smoked pork slices and the bay leaves to the boiling water.
- 3. Let the pot simmer on low heat with the lid closed for about 30 minutes.
- 4. Cut the turnip in half lengthwise.
- 5. Peel the outer skin off the turnip halves.
- 6. Slice the turnip into round slices.
- 7. Cut the turnip slices into cubes of about 2 centimeters.
- 8. Peel the onions.
- 9. Cut the onions into wedges.
- 10. Remove the smoked pork from the pot using a slotted spoon.
- 11. Place the meat on a plate and let it cool down.
- 12. Add the onion wedges and the turnip cubes to the cooking liquid.
- 13. Bring the mixture back to a boil.
- 14. Cook the vegetables on medium heat with the lid closed for about 10 minutes.
- 15. Peel the potatoes.
- 16. Rinse the peeled potatoes.
- 17. Cut the potatoes into cubes of about 2 centimeters.
- 18. Add the potato cubes to the cooking turnips.
- 19. Let everything cook on medium heat with the lid closed for another 20 minutes.
- 20. Wash the parsley.
- 21. Shake the parsley dry.
- 22. Pluck the parsley leaves from the stems.
- 23. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
- 24. Cut the cooled smoked pork into cubes of about 2 centimeters.
- 25. Add half of the chopped parsley to the meat and vegetables.
- 26. Season the stew with salt and pepper.
- 27. Season the stew with ground cloves.
- 28. Sprinkle the finished turnip stew with the remaining chopped parsley.
- 29. Serve the stew hot.
