  1. 1. Bring the water for the pasta to a boil in a pot.
  2. 2. Season the water generously with salt.
  3. 3. Add the spirelli pasta to the boiling water.
  4. 4. Cook the pasta al dente (firm to the bite).
  5. 5. Peel the garlic.
  6. 6. Take 4 anchovy fillets out of the can.
  7. 7. Finely chop the garlic and the anchovies together.
  8. 8. Heat olive oil in a frying pan.
  9. 9. Add the chopped mixture to the hot pan.
  10. 10. Sauté the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes.
  11. 11. Drain the pasta.
  12. 12. Reserve some pasta water.
  13. 13. Add the drained pasta to the sauce in the pan.
  14. 14. Add fresh basil.
  15. 15. Toss everything well to combine.
  16. 16. Add a little pasta water if it looks too dry.
  17. 17. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  18. 18. Serve the dish garnished with fresh basil.
