🍝 Spaghetti with Classic Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 large onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 800 g canned tomatoes
- salt
- pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- chili flakes
- 500 g spaghetti
- 2 sprigs basil
- 1 pinch sugar
- 40 g parmesan
Instructions
- 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- 2. Add the spaghetti to the boiling water.
- 3. Cook the pasta until al dente (firm to the bite) according to the package instructions.
- 4. Drain the spaghetti.
- 5. Let the pasta drip dry well.
- 6. Peel the onion.
- 7. Peel the garlic.
- 8. Finely chop the onion.
- 9. Finely chop the garlic.
- 10. Heat the olive oil in a pan.
- 11. Add the chopped onion to the hot pan.
- 12. Add the chopped garlic to the pan.
- 13. Sweat the onions and garlic for 2 to 3 minutes.
- 14. Stir the tomato paste into the pan.
- 15. Mix the tomato paste briefly with the oil.
- 16. Add the tomatoes to the pan.
- 17. Crush the tomatoes well.
- 18. Season the sauce with salt.
- 19. Season the sauce with pepper.
- 20. Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 21. Add thyme to the sauce.
- 22. Add oregano to the sauce.
- 23. Add chili to the sauce.
- 24. Let the sauce simmer for another 5 to 10 minutes.
- 25. Check the consistency of the sauce.
- 26. Wash the basil.
- 27. Shake the basil dry.
- 28. Finely chop the basil.
- 29. Stir the basil into the sauce.
- 30. Adjust the sauce with salt.
- 31. Adjust the sauce with pepper.
- 32. Adjust the sauce with sugar.
- 33. Mix the sauce with the drained pasta.
- 34. Divide the pasta onto the plates.
- 35. Grate the Parmesan over the pasta.
- 36. Serve the dish.
