🍳 Classic Spelt Whole Grain Rolls

Ingredients
- 350 g Spelt whole wheat flour
- 150 g Spelt flour Type 1050
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 packet Dry yeast (or 1/2 cube fresh yeast)
- 0.5 tsp Raw cane sugar
- 355 ml Oat drink (oat milk)
- 1 tbsp Oat flakes
- 1 tsp Poppy seeds
Instructions
- 1. Mix the flour with the salt.
- 2. Add the yeast and sugar to the flour mixture.
- 3. Knead the dough with 350 ml of oat drink until it is smooth and elastic.
- 4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 to 60 minutes.
- 5. Knead the risen dough briefly again.
- 6. Divide the dough into two halves.
- 7. Shape each half into a long sausage.
- 8. Cut each sausage into five equal pieces.
- 9. Shape the individual pieces into round balls.
- 10. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 11. Make a slight cut in the center of each ball with a knife.
- 12. Brush the rolls with the remaining oat drink.
- 13. Sprinkle the rolls with oat flakes and poppy seeds.
- 14. Let the rolls rest for another 30 minutes in a warm place.
- 15. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (convection 180 degrees).
- 16. Place a heatproof container with some water on the bottom of the oven.
- 17. Slide the baking sheet into the oven.
- 18. Bake the rolls for about 20 minutes until they are golden brown.
- 19. Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool down.
