🍽️ Cozy Shepherd's Pie with Potato Topping

Ingredients
- 700 g starchy potatoes
- salt
- 225 g savoy cabbage (3 leaves)
- 70 g onions (1 onion)
- 200 g red bell peppers (1 red bell pepper)
- 300 g mushrooms
- 1 bunch flat-leaf parsley
- 3 tbsp rapeseed oil
- 350 g mixed minced meat
- white pepper
- 40 g tomato paste (2 tbsp)
- 200 ml milk (1.5% fat)
- nutmeg
- 10 g breadcrumbs (1 tbsp)
Instructions
- 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 2. Place the potatoes in a pot with a little salted water.
- 3. Boil the potatoes for 20 to 25 minutes until tender.
- 4. Meanwhile, bring 500 milliliters of water to a boil in a separate pot.
- 5. Wash the cabbage leaves (Savoy cabbage) carefully.
- 6. Cook the cabbage leaves in the boiling water for 4 minutes.
- 7. Remove the cabbage leaves with a slotted spoon.
- 8. Let the cabbage leaves cool down.
- 9. Peel the onion.
- 10. Dice the onion into fine cubes.
- 11. Halve the bell pepper.
- 12. Remove the core from the bell pepper.
- 13. Wash the bell pepper.
- 14. Dice the bell pepper as well.
- 15. Clean the mushrooms.
- 16. Clean the mushrooms with a brush.
- 17. Cut the mushrooms into halves or quarters depending on their size.
- 18. Wash the parsley.
- 19. Shake the parsley dry.
- 20. Pluck the parsley leaves from the stems.
- 21. Finely chop the parsley.
- 22. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a large pan.
- 23. Sauté the onion cubes until translucent in the hot oil.
- 24. Add the mushrooms to the pan.
- 25. Add the diced bell pepper to the pan.
- 26. Add the minced meat to the pan.
- 27. Fry the ingredients over medium heat.
- 28. Continue frying until the meat is browned.
- 29. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
- 30. Stir in the tomato paste.
- 31. Fry the mixture briefly.
- 32. Add 100 milliliters of water.
- 33. Stir in the parsley.
- 34. Fill the minced meat mixture into a baking dish (approx. 28 x 20 cm).
- 35. Cover the minced meat mixture with the cooled cabbage leaves.
- 36. Heat the milk in a small saucepan.
- 37. Drain the potatoes.
- 38. Rinse the potatoes under cold water.
- 39. Peel the potatoes.
- 40. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher.
- 41. Add the hot milk to the mashed potatoes.
- 42. Season the mash with salt.
- 43. Grate some nutmeg directly into the mash.
- 44. Spread the mashed potatoes over the cabbage leaves.
- 45. Smooth the mash with a rubber spatula.
- 46. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the mash.
- 47. Drizzle the remaining oil over the breadcrumbs.
- 48. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (convection: 180 degrees Celsius, gas: mark 3).
- 49. Place the baking dish on the middle rack.
- 50. Bake the pie for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
