  1. 1. Sift the flour into a large bowl.
  2. 2. Make a well in the center of the flour.
  3. 3. Sprinkle the salt around the edge of the well.
  4. 4. Pour the oil directly into the well.
  5. 5. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in about 300 milliliters of lukewarm water.
  6. 6. Pour the yeast mixture onto the flour.
  7. 7. Knead everything well until the dough releases from the sides of the bowl.
  8. 8. Let the dough rise, covered, in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
  9. 9. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  10. 10. Knead the dough well again after it has risen.
  11. 11. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces.
  12. 12. Roll each piece into a strand about 30 centimeters long.
  13. 13. Take two strands at a time and twist them around each other.
  14. 14. Press the ends of the strands together firmly to seal them.
  15. 15. Fill a shallow dish with lukewarm water.
  16. 16. Spread the sesame seeds on a plate.
  17. 17. Dip the dough rings briefly into the water.
  18. 18. Press the wet rings into the sesame seeds on both sides.
  19. 19. Place the rings on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  20. 20. Bake the rings in the oven for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
