  1. 1. Peel the apple, the onions, and the garlic.
  2. 2. Remove the core from the apple.
  3. 3. Cut the fruit and vegetables into large chunks.
  4. 4. Place the pieces in a pot together with the vinegar, the bay leaf, the pepper, and the cloves.
  5. 5. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. 6. Reduce the heat and let the pot simmer gently for about 20 minutes with the lid on.
  7. 7. Put the yellow mustard powder and the brown mustard powder into a bowl.
  8. 8. Pour the liquid from the pot through a sieve into the bowl with the mustard powder.
  9. 9. Stir vigorously while doing so.
  10. 10. Continue stirring until the mustard has a creamy consistency.
  11. 11. Season the mustard with salt.
  12. 12. Let the mustard cool down.
  13. 13. Fill the mustard into jars that have been rinsed with hot water.
  14. 14. Seal the jars.
  15. 15. Let the mustard infuse for at least 2 days.
