🍽️ Homemade Bread Dumplings

Ingredients
- 6 stale rolls (approx. 400 g)
- 200 ml milk
- 1 shallot
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg (freshly grated)
- 2 eggs
- breadcrumbs (if necessary)
Instructions
- 1. Slice the stale bread rolls into thin pieces.
- 2. Place the slices into a large bowl.
- 3. Bring the milk to a boil in a pot.
- 4. Pour the hot milk directly over the bread slices.
- 5. Let the mixture soak for about 10 minutes.
- 6. Peel the shallot and dice it finely.
- 7. Melt the butter in a pan and sauté the shallots until translucent.
- 8. Finely chop the parsley and add it to the pan.
- 9. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 10. Let the onion and parsley mixture cool down briefly.
- 11. Add the eggs and the cooled onion mixture to the soaked bread.
- 12. Mix all ingredients thoroughly together.
- 13. If the dough is too wet, add some breadcrumbs.
- 14. If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk.
- 15. Wet your hands with water.
- 16. Shape the mixture into 8 to 10 round dumplings.
- 17. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- 18. Carefully place the dumplings into the boiling water.
- 19. Simmer the dumplings gently for about 20 minutes.
- 20. Lift the cooked dumplings out of the water with a slotted spoon.
- 21. Serve the bread dumplings hot.
