  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Peel the shallot and the garlic.
  3. 3. Finely dice the shallot and the garlic.
  4. 4. Rinse the basil.
  5. 5. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems.
  6. 6. Finely chop the basil leaves.
  7. 7. Mix the shallot and garlic cubes with the chopped basil, the butter, and the breadcrumbs.
  8. 8. Season the herb butter with salt and pepper.
  9. 9. Wash the pork fillet.
  10. 10. Pat the pork fillet dry with a kitchen towel.
  11. 11. Remove any sinews or fat edges from the pork fillet (trim).
  12. 12. Season the pork fillet with salt and pepper.
  13. 13. Heat the oil in a casserole dish.
  14. 14. Sear the pork fillet on all sides until browned.
  15. 15. Remove the pork fillet from the casserole dish.
  16. 16. Set the pork fillet aside.
  17. 17. Deglaze the pan juices in the casserole dish with the broth.
  18. 18. Let the broth reduce in the casserole dish for 5 minutes.
  19. 19. Lay out the ham slices side by side.
  20. 20. Align the ham slices to the length of the pork fillet.
  21. 21. Spread the basil-butter mixture over the ham slices.
  22. 22. Place the pork fillet on top of the buttered ham slices.
  23. 23. Roll up the pork fillet.
  24. 24. Place the roll with the ham ends facing down into the casserole dish.
  25. 25. Bake the pork fillet in the oven for approx. 30 minutes.
  26. 26. Remove the pork fillet from the oven.
  27. 27. Garnish the finished dish with fresh basil as desired.
