🍰 Classic Black-and-White Cookie Stars

Ingredients
- 250 g flour
- 125 g powdered sugar
- 0.5 untreated lemon (zested peel)
- 1 tsp vanilla paste
- 1 egg
- 150 g cold butter
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 100 g powdered sugar
- flour (for working)
Instructions
- 1. Mound flour, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla paste on your work surface into a pile.
- 2. Make a well in the center of the flour pile and crack the egg into it.
- 3. Distribute the chopped butter around the egg in the flour.
- 4. Roughly chop the ingredients together with a knife.
- 5. Knead everything together by hand until a firm dough forms.
- 6. Take about one-third of the dough away from the main portion.
- 7. Knead the cocoa into this small portion until it is dark.
- 8. Wrap both doughs separately in plastic wrap.
- 9. Chill the doughs in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
- 10. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan setting.
- 11. Line two baking sheets with baking paper.
- 12. Lightly dust your work surface with flour.
- 13. Roll out the light dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 3 to 4 millimeters.
- 14. Cut out large stars from the light dough.
- 15. Cut out small stars from the dark dough.
- 16. Place the stars on the prepared baking sheet.
- 17. Bake the cookies in the center of the oven for about 10 minutes.
- 18. Remove the cookies from the oven.
- 19. Carefully transfer them to a wire cooling rack.
- 20. Let the cookies cool down completely.
- 21. Mix lemon juice and powdered sugar to form a thick glaze.
- 22. Brush the small dark stars with a little glaze.
- 23. Stick the dark stars onto the light stars.
