  1. 1. Mound flour, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla paste on your work surface into a pile.
  2. 2. Make a well in the center of the flour pile and crack the egg into it.
  3. 3. Distribute the chopped butter around the egg in the flour.
  4. 4. Roughly chop the ingredients together with a knife.
  5. 5. Knead everything together by hand until a firm dough forms.
  6. 6. Take about one-third of the dough away from the main portion.
  7. 7. Knead the cocoa into this small portion until it is dark.
  8. 8. Wrap both doughs separately in plastic wrap.
  9. 9. Chill the doughs in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  10. 10. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan setting.
  11. 11. Line two baking sheets with baking paper.
  12. 12. Lightly dust your work surface with flour.
  13. 13. Roll out the light dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 3 to 4 millimeters.
  14. 14. Cut out large stars from the light dough.
  15. 15. Cut out small stars from the dark dough.
  16. 16. Place the stars on the prepared baking sheet.
  17. 17. Bake the cookies in the center of the oven for about 10 minutes.
  18. 18. Remove the cookies from the oven.
  19. 19. Carefully transfer them to a wire cooling rack.
  20. 20. Let the cookies cool down completely.
  21. 21. Mix lemon juice and powdered sugar to form a thick glaze.
  22. 22. Brush the small dark stars with a little glaze.
  23. 23. Stick the dark stars onto the light stars.
