  1. 1. Break the chocolate into small pieces.
  2. 2. Place a bowl with the chocolate pieces over a pot with simmering water.
  3. 3. Stir the chocolate gently until it is completely melted.
  4. 4. Remove the bowl from the pot and set it aside.
  5. 5. Beat the butter with the sugar in a large bowl until creamy.
  6. 6. Add the egg and the vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture.
  7. 7. Add the melted chocolate and mix everything well.
  8. 8. Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt over the mixture.
  9. 9. Pour in the milk.
  10. 10. Stir the dough briefly until it just comes together.
  11. 11. Cover the bowl.
  12. 12. Place the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  13. 13. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  14. 14. Take small portions of the dough.
  15. 15. Shape each portion into a ball with a diameter of about 2 centimeters.
  16. 16. Roll the dough balls in powdered sugar.
  17. 17. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  18. 18. Place the balls on the tray with some space between them.
  19. 19. Place the tray in the center of the oven.
  20. 20. Bake the cookies for about 15 minutes.
  21. 21. Remove the tray from the oven.
  22. 22. Place the cookies on a wire cooling rack.
  23. 23. Let the cookies cool down completely.
