🍰 Moist Chocolate Cake with Cherries

Ingredients
- 1 jar sour cherries
- 80 g soft butter
- 2 eggs
- 110 g raw cane sugar
- 350 g yogurt (3.5% fat)
- 400 g wheat flour Type 1050
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 6 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- 1. Place the cherries in a colander.
- 2. Let the cherries drain well.
- 3. Catch the draining cherry juice in a bowl.
- 4. Beat the butter, eggs, and sugar until creamy.
- 5. Stir the yogurt into the butter-egg mixture.
- 6. Take two tablespoons of the collected cherry juice.
- 7. Stir the two tablespoons of cherry juice into the mixture.
- 8. Mix the flour with the baking powder.
- 9. Add four tablespoons of cocoa powder and cinnamon to the flour mixture.
- 10. Quickly stir the dry mixture into the butter-egg mass.
- 11. Gently fold the cherries into the chocolate batter.
- 12. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 13. Spread the batter evenly onto the baking tray.
- 14. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius conventional heat.
- 15. Bake the cake in the oven for 40 minutes.
- 16. Remove the cake from the oven.
- 17. Let the cake cool down completely.
- 18. Dust the cooled cake with remaining cocoa powder.
- 19. Cut the cake into pieces.
- 20. Serve the cake pieces.
