  1. 1. Roughly chop the chocolate.
  2. 2. Melt the chocolate pieces in a bowl placed over a pot of hot, but not boiling water (bain-marie). Stir occasionally.
  3. 3. Remove the bowl from the pot and set it aside to let the chocolate cool slightly.
  4. 4. Add the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt to a large mixing bowl.
  5. 5. Beat the butter-sugar mixture with a mixer or a fork until it becomes light and fluffy.
  6. 6. Add the egg to the butter-sugar mixture and mix it in briefly.
  7. 7. Add the melted chocolate to the mixture and stir it in gently.
  8. 8. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder to the bowl.
  9. 9. Add the milk.
  10. 10. Mix everything together to form a dough.
  11. 11. Check the consistency of the dough.
  12. 12. If the dough seems too runny, add a little more flour.
  13. 13. If the dough seems too dry, add a splash more milk.
  14. 14. Cover the bowl with the dough.
  15. 15. Place the dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  16. 16. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
  17. 17. Take small portions of the dough.
  18. 18. Shape each portion into a ball about 2 centimeters in diameter.
  19. 19. Gently flatten the dough balls.
  20. 20. Roll the flattened balls in powdered sugar so they are coated all over.
  21. 21. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  22. 22. Place the cookies on a second baking sheet also lined with baking paper.
  23. 23. Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven.
  24. 24. Bake the cookies for about 10 minutes.
  25. 25. Make sure the cookies remain crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside.
  26. 26. Remove the baking sheets from the oven.
  27. 27. Place the finished cookies on a cooling rack.
  28. 28. Let the cookies cool completely on the rack.
