  1. 1. Separate the eggs. Set the egg whites aside.
  2. 2. Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, quark (curd cheese), egg yolks, and milk in a bowl until smooth.
  3. 3. Let the batter rest for about 5 minutes.
  4. 4. Add a little more milk if the batter seems too thick.
  5. 5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (convection mode).
  6. 6. Grease an ovenproof pan, baking dish, or four small individual molds with butter.
  7. 7. Beat the reserved egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  8. 8. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.
  9. 9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan or molds.
  10. 10. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the batter.
  11. 11. Bake the Kaiserschmarrn in the oven for about 15 minutes.
  12. 12. Remove the pan from the oven.
  13. 13. Tear the baked cake into small pieces using two spoons.
  14. 14. Dust the Kaiserschmarrn with powdered sugar.
  15. 15. Serve the Kaiserschmarrn with vanilla ice cream as desired.
