  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
  2. 2. Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise.
  3. 3. Scrape out the vanilla seeds.
  4. 4. Add the empty pod and the seeds to the milk with the cream.
  5. 5. Bring the milk mixture to a boil.
  6. 6. Remove the pan from the heat.
  7. 7. Chop the chocolate into small pieces.
  8. 8. Let the chocolate melt in the hot milk.
  9. 9. Whisk the eggs and egg yolks with the sugar until creamy.
  10. 10. Whisk the starch into a small amount of the mixture.
  11. 11. Stir the chocolate milk into the egg mixture in a thin stream.
  12. 12. Remove the vanilla pod from the cream.
  13. 13. Pour the cream into four ovenproof ramekins.
  14. 14. Place the ramekins in a roasting pan or baking dish.
  15. 15. Pour hot water into the pan until the ramekins are two-thirds submerged.
  16. 16. Bake the cream in the oven for about 40 minutes until set.
  17. 17. Remove the ramekins from the oven.
  18. 18. Let the cream cool down.
  19. 19. Place the cream in the refrigerator.
  20. 20. Spread one tablespoon of sugar on each cream before serving.
  21. 21. Sprinkle some gold dust on the cream.
  22. 22. Place the ramekins under the hot grill for a short time.
  23. 23. Wait until the sugar melts and caramelizes.
  24. 24. Sprinkle the cream with a little more gold.
  25. 25. Serve the crème brûlée.
