🍰 Snowball Cookies with Powdered Sugar

Ingredients
- 125 g dark chocolate
- 50 g soft butter
- 60 g cane sugar
- 1 pinch vanilla
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 egg
- 150 g wheat flour Type 1050
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 tbsp milk (3.5% fat)
- 75 g powdered sugar from raw cane sugar
Instructions
- 1. Place a pot with some water on the stove and heat it until it is hot but not boiling.
- 2. Break the chocolate into large pieces and chop them roughly with a knife.
- 3. Place a heatproof bowl over the pot with the hot water so that the chocolate melts inside without touching the water.
- 4. Take the butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt into a separate large mixing bowl.
- 5. Stir these ingredients with a mixer or a spoon for as long as the mixture becomes fluffy and light.
- 6. Add the egg and the melted chocolate to the butter mixture and stir everything well together.
- 7. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder to the dough mixture.
- 8. Pour in the milk and mix everything until a uniform dough forms.
- 9. Check the consistency of the dough. It must not be too liquid.
- 10. If the dough seems too liquid, add a little more flour. If it seems too dry, add a little more milk.
- 11. Cover the bowl with the dough.
- 12. Place the covered bowl in the refrigerator for at least two hours to chill the dough.
- 13. Take small portions of the cold dough.
- 14. Shape each portion into a ball with a diameter of about two centimeters.
- 15. Press the balls down very slightly to flatten them.
- 16. Roll the top side of each ball in the powdered sugar so that it is covered in white.
- 17. Place the balls on a baking sheet that you have lined with baking paper beforehand.
- 18. Preheat the oven. Set it to 180 degrees conventional heat.
- 19. If you use fan-assisted heat, set the oven to 160 degrees.
- 20. If you have a gas oven, set the level to two to three.
- 21. Bake the cookies in the oven for about 15 minutes.
- 22. Take the baking sheet out of the oven.
- 23. Place the cookies on a rack so they can cool down.
