🍝 Crispy Ham and Pasta Gratin with Fresh Basil

Ingredients
- 250 g Smoked ham
- 500 g Egg noodles
- Butter (for the dish)
- 2 Onions
- 1 Clove of garlic
- 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 1 bunch Basil (approx. 30 g)
- 450 ml Heavy cream
- 2 Eggs
- 150 g Grated Parmesan
- 20 g Butter
- Salt
- Pepper (from the mill)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 2. Cut the bacon into coarse cubes.
- 3. Cook the pasta in boiling salted water until al dente (firm to the bite).
- 4. Drain the pasta, rinse briefly with cold water, and let them drain well.
- 5. Grease a heatproof baking dish with some butter.
- 6. Peel the onions and garlic and chop them finely.
- 7. Sauté the onions, garlic, and bacon in a hot pan with oil.
- 8. Wash the basil, shake it dry, and pluck the leaves from the stems.
- 9. Finely chop the basil leaves.
- 10. Mix the cream with the eggs, half of the cheese, the chopped basil, salt, and pepper.
- 11. Fold the bacon-onion mixture into the cream-egg mixture.
- 12. Stir the pasta into the sauce.
- 13. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- 14. Distribute small flakes of butter over the surface.
- 15. Sprinkle the gratin with the remaining grated cheese.
- 16. Bake the gratin in the oven for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
