🍽️ Colorful Paprika and Sesam Layer Salad

Ingredients
- 500 g small red bell peppers (3 small red bell peppers)
- 500 g small green bell peppers (3 small green bell peppers)
- 500 g small yellow bell peppers (3 small yellow bell peppers)
- 4 onions (approx. 200 g)
- 2 garlic cloves
- 4 sprigs lemon thyme
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- 5 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 30 g unpeeled sesame seeds (2 tbsp)
Instructions
- 1. Line a baking tray with aluminum foil.
- 2. Halve the bell peppers and remove the core.
- 3. Rinse the pepper halves thoroughly.
- 4. Place the pepper halves cut-side down on the tray.
- 5. Press the pepper halves down slightly to flatten them.
- 6. Switch the oven to grill mode.
- 7. Grill the peppers for about 10 minutes.
- 8. Wait until the skin turns dark and forms bubbles.
- 9. Remove the baking tray from the oven.
- 10. Cover the hot pepper halves with a damp kitchen towel.
- 11. Let the peppers cool down under the towel.
- 12. Peel the onions while waiting.
- 13. Peel the garlic cloves.
- 14. Halve the onions.
- 15. Cut the onion halves into thin strips.
- 16. Finely chop the garlic.
- 17. Wash the lemon thyme.
- 18. Shake the thyme dry.
- 19. Pluck the thyme leaves from the stems.
- 20. Heat the olive oil in a pot.
- 21. Add the onions, garlic, and thyme to the pot.
- 22. Sauté the mixture while stirring over medium heat.
- 23. Reduce the heat to low.
- 24. Cover the pot.
- 25. Simmer the ingredients for about 10 minutes.
- 26. Season the mixture with salt.
- 27. Season the mixture with pepper.
- 28. Add vinegar to the onion mixture.
- 29. Let the onion mixture cool down.
- 30. Heat a pan without fat.
- 31. Roast the sesame seeds until golden brown over medium heat.
- 32. Salt the roasted sesame seeds.
- 33. Transfer the sesame seeds to a plate.
- 34. Let the sesame seeds cool down.
- 35. Peel the skin off the cooled pepper halves using a small knife.
- 36. Cut the pepper flesh into strips about 1 cm wide.
- 37. Take a large jar or airtight container with a capacity of about 1.5 liters.
- 38. Layer the pepper strips separated by color alternately with the onion mixture in the jar.
- 39. Seal the jar tightly.
- 40. Fill the cooled sesame seeds into a small freezer bag.
- 41. Seal the freezer bag.
- 42. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the layer salad just before serving.
