Ingredients
- 1 bunch basil (small)
- 12 chili peppers
- 5 garlic cloves
- 150 ml olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the fresh basil under cold water.
- 2. Gently pluck the leaves off the stems.
- 3. Pat the basil leaves dry with a kitchen towel.
- 4. Cut the chili peppers lengthwise.
- 5. Remove the seeds and the tough stem bases from the pods.
- 6. Cut the empty chili pods into thin strips.
- 7. Peel the garlic cloves completely.
- 8. Slice the garlic into thin rounds.
- 9. Pour the olive oil into a small pot.
- 10. Warm the oil over medium heat.
- 11. Add the basil leaves, chili strips, and garlic slices to the warm oil.
- 12. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
- 13. Let the ingredients steep in the oil for five minutes.
- 14. Stir the salt into the mixture.
- 15. Pour the finished oil into a clean, dry jar.
- 16. Seal the jar tightly with a lid.
- 17. Let the oil infuse for one week.
- 18. The oil keeps for four to six months.
