🍽️ Spicy Apple Chutney

Ingredients
- 1 kg tart apples (Boskop)
- 2 chili peppers
- 3 tbsp ghee
- 2 tsp Panch Phoron (five-spice mix)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- salt
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- 1. Wash the apples thoroughly.
- 2. Peel the apples.
- 3. Cut the apples into quarters.
- 4. Remove the core from each apple quarter.
- 5. Slice the cored apple quarters into thin slices.
- 6. Wash the chili peppers.
- 7. Finely chop the chili peppers.
- 8. Heat the ghee in a pot.
- 9. Add the spices and the chopped chili peppers to the hot ghee.
- 10. Fry the spices and chilies, stirring constantly, for half a minute.
- 11. Add the apple slices to the pot.
- 12. Fry the apple slices briefly.
- 13. After five minutes, add 100 milliliters of water.
- 14. Reduce the heat to low.
- 15. Cover the pot.
- 16. Let the chutney simmer for five minutes.
- 17. Add the sugar.
- 18. Add the lemon juice.
- 19. Continue cooking the chutney until it has thickened.
- 20. Transfer the finished chutney into a bowl.
- 21. Let the chutney cool down completely.
