  2. 2. Coat the dish evenly with breadcrumbs.
  3. 3. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  4. 4. Mix the sour cherries with the sugar.
  5. 5. Press the quark through a fine sieve until it is completely smooth.
  6. 6. Beat the smooth quark together with the milk, lemon zest, and egg yolks until creamy.
  7. 7. Stir the semolina into the quark mixture.
  8. 8. Beat the egg whites until stiff.
  9. 9. Gently fold the stiff egg whites into the batter to keep it airy.
  10. 10. Fill half of the batter into the prepared dish.
  11. 11. Spread the cherries evenly over the batter.
  12. 12. Cover the cherries with the remaining batter.
  13. 13. Place small flakes of butter on top of the cake.
  14. 14. Bake the cake for 50 minutes in the oven until golden yellow.
