  1. 1. Mix thyme, tomato paste, spices, ginger, and soy sauce in a small bowl.
  2. 2. Rinse the meat under running water and pat it dry with a kitchen towel.
  3. 3. Coat the meat thoroughly with the marinade.
  4. 4. Let the meat marinate for one hour.
  5. 5. Peel the onions.
  6. 6. Cut the onions into thin strips.
  7. 7. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan.
  8. 8. Fry the steaks for about four minutes on each side.
  9. 9. Remove the steaks from the pan.
  10. 10. Let the meat rest briefly.
  11. 11. Turn on the oven grill and preheat it.
  12. 12. Slice the buns in half lengthwise.
  13. 13. Place the buns on an oven rack.
  14. 14. Toast the buns lightly under the preheated grill.
  15. 15. Heat some oil in another pan.
  16. 16. Fry the onion strips until golden brown.
  17. 17. Dust the onions with sugar.
  18. 18. Caramelize the onions slightly.
  19. 19. Spread the caramelized onions on the bottom halves of the buns.
  20. 20. Drain the dried tomatoes well.
  21. 21. Place the drained tomatoes on top of the onions.
  22. 22. Slice the meat into thin strips.
  23. 23. Place the meat strips on top of the tomatoes.
  24. 24. Cover the meat with one slice of cheese each.
  25. 25. Put the sandwiches under the grill for a short time.
  26. 26. Let the cheese melt.
  27. 27. Place the bun tops on.
  28. 28. Serve the sandwiches immediately.
