  1. 1. Sift the flour into a bowl. Stir in the cream, egg yolks, vanilla, and butter. Wash the lemon under hot water, grate the zest, and add it to the bowl.
  2. 2. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt and sugar until very stiff. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter. Preheat the waffle iron and grease it with butter.
  3. 3. Add a few tablespoons of batter to the waffle iron and spread it evenly. Bake the waffles one after the other. Keep them warm in a slightly preheated oven or let them cool on a wire rack.
  4. 4. Dust the finished waffles with powdered sugar and serve.
