  1. 1. Place a heatproof bowl over a pot of hot water.
  2. 2. Add the broken chocolate pieces and 2 tablespoons of water to the bowl.
  3. 3. Let the chocolate melt slowly.
  4. 4. Add the butter and the sugar.
  5. 5. Stir the mixture until everything is completely melted and smooth.
  6. 6. Separate the eggs carefully.
  7. 7. Remove the yolk from the white.
  8. 8. Stir the yolk into the chocolate mixture.
  9. 9. Add the flour to the chocolate mixture.
  10. 10. Mix everything well.
  11. 11. Whip the egg white until very stiff.
  12. 12. Gently fold the stiff egg white into the chocolate mixture.
  13. 13. Line a springform pan with baking paper.
  14. 14. Fill the mixture into the pan.
  15. 15. Place the pan in a cold oven.
  16. 16. Turn the oven on to 180 °C.
  17. 17. Bake the cake for 40 to 60 minutes.
  18. 18. Insert a wooden skewer into the center of the cake.
  19. 19. Check if no liquid batter or moist crumbs stick to the skewer.
  20. 20. Remove the cake from the oven.
  21. 21. Remove the side of the pan.
  22. 22. Turn the cake out onto a wire rack.
  23. 23. Remove the baking paper.
  24. 24. Let the cake cool.
  25. 25. Dust the finished cake with powdered sugar before serving.
